Police has registered a case against a ‘mob’ for allegedly  attacking  Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jehangir during his visit to the trouble hit Ramhal area.

Police sources told that Deputy Commissioner had gone to the area to listen to the people following the killing of a youth Shahid Bashir allegedly during an encounter in the Ramhal Forests. However, the mob attacked  Deputy Commissioner and torched two vehicles of his cavalcade. Some of his personal Security guards have also reportedly sustained injuries.

SHO Vilgam Javid Ahamd Khan said that an FIR vide No. 82/2017 Under various sections has been lodged with Police Station Vilgam. He however, said no arrests were made as of now.

According to SHO, one more open FIR has already been lodged on Tuesday following the filing of missing report by slain youth’s father.
