Minister for revival of Cooperative Movement in JK

Minister of State for Forest, Environment, and Cooperatives, Mir Zahoor Ahmad today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Centre for Cooperative Management (CCM), Srinagar and Jammu wings, besides overall working of the Department.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues related to CCM institutes. The Minister was briefed in detail about the activities carried out by these institutions by the Secretary Cooperatives, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Register Cooperative, Hafizullah Shah, and Principals of CCM.

It was observed that there is a lack of fund allocation to the institutes which needs to be enhanced. The Minister directed the concerned to utilize the available funds judiciously and allocate proportionately among the two institutes of CCM. He also asked them for proper audit of these units.

During the meeting detailed discussions were also held on various issues and problems of the trainees which include incorporation of Diploma in basic eligibility criteria in Recruitment Rules of Cooperatives and its allied Departments, payment of stipend in favour of trainees during their training course, revamping of Cooperative Movement in the State and conduct of study tours to various Cooperative Societies outside the State.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister called for strengthening working of the CCM institutes. He also instructed the concerned to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for modernization and infrastructure augmentation of CCM institutes.

 Mir Zahoor underscored the need for revival of Cooperative movement in the State. He said Cooperative was the old Department in the State which needs to be empowered by providing adequate financial support. He said there is scope in the Cooperative Department to create employment avenues for the educated unemployed youth of the State.
