Minister reviews implementation of Social Welfare Schemes in State

 

Minister of State for Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash today convened a high-level meeting of officers of Social Welfare Department to review the status of implementation of Social Welfare Schemes in the State.

Asiea held threadbare discussion with the officers of the Social Welfare and allied departments regarding their activities besides taking note of issues, concerns being faced by the department in line of duty.

Reiterating the mandate of the department to work towards welfare of weaker section of the society, the Minister passed directions to officials to clear out all pending cases on priority.

The Minister said numerous schemes are being implemented across the State for welfare and development of people. She directed the officers of the Department to strictly adhere to the guidelines while implementing state and centrally sponsored social welfare schemes. She stressed upon officers to make people more aware about the schemes so that more people can avail maximum benefit of the schemes.

She urged upon the concerned officials to organize Rehabilitative training and focus on the development of an individual’s life skills, social skills and basic work skills with the objective of enhancing the trainee’s quality of life and general work capacity which will enhance the livelihood of the people.

She also said Social Welfare Department is serving needy people and enjoined upon them to work honestly, zeal, dedication and in missionary mode and maintain transparency so that only deserving and needy applicants are covered under these schemes. She further directed to launch an awareness of the social sector schemes to benefit and make people aware of such schemes.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare, Sajad Ahmad Khan, Managing Director SC, ST and BC Development Corporation R. K. Pandita, Secretary JKSSWB Shahid Mehood, Director Finance Social Welfare Department, Deputy Director Social Welfare, District Social Welfare officers of Kashmir Division and other officials of the department.
