Better connectivity gateway to development, economic prosperity: Minister

Describing connectivity as a gateway to development, the Minister for Horticulture Syed Basharat Bukhari today said that good roads help to improve the economy of an area by enhancing employment generation opportunities and improving connectivity among people.

The Minister said this while chairing a meeting, where he reviewed the statue of various ongoing development works, including re-organization of revenue villages, macadamization and upgradation of roads taken under Central Road Fund (CFR) and (National Bank For Agriculture & Rural Development) NABARD in Sangrama constituency.

Speaking about the massive road connectivity upgradation programme in the constituency, the Minister said improved connectivity will help to unlock the huge economic potential in the area and will open up various tourist spots for public in the area.

During the meeting, the Minister was updated about the execution of ongoing macadamization projects and upgradation of various road projects taken under CFR and NABARD including Bulgam, Hygam, Tarzoo road project, Choorasa, Salusa, Dardpora road project, and Tapar-Dardpora road project. He was informed that the work on all the projects is in progress and will be completed within allotted time.

The Minister directed the concerned to complete the pending works in a stipulated timeframe and urged for acquiring minimum land as per the requirement of upgradation and road widening in the area.

Urging for expediting re-organization work of revenue villages in Sangrama, the Minister directed to come up with a detailed survey report in this regard.

The Minister also directed for shifting of utilities under the jurisdiction of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department and Power Department Development (PDD) where it is required to avoid any hindrances in development work process.

Bukhari directed the officers to synergize their efforts and asked them to hold regular meetings so that the requisite results are achieved and also to get necessary feedback about the status of work and implementation of various initiatives on the ground.

He also urged field staff of the department to improve their services so that they could serve the people in a more professional manner.

Commissioner Secretary Revenue Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Khursheed Ahmad Shah, ACR Baramulla G.A Malla, Exn R&B Sopore Saleem Akther Khan, concerned Tehsildars, Patwaris and officials of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
