Encounter has raged between government forces and militants at Hingnikoot Ramhal forest in Handwara area of north Kashmir Kupwara district.
On specific information SoG Handwara and 6RR of Army cordoned off Hingnikoot Ramhal area of Handwara.
As the search operation was intensified the hiding militants in suspected area fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
Reportedly 2 to 3 militants are believe to be trapped.
Intermittent firing was going on when the last reports came in .
