3 J&K students booked for not standing during National Anthem

Three students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir studying engineering in Hydrabad have been arrested for allegedly disrespecting the National Anthem in a theatre.

The trio are studying in a private college at Chevella on the outskirts of the City. On Saturday, they had gone to watch a Hindi movie at a theatre at Attapur.

“The management of the theatre lodged a complaint with the police, stating that the three persons did not stand up when the National Anthem was played when all others in the cinema hall were standing.” Deputy Commissioner of Police P V Padmaja said.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) P V Padmaja and Rajendra Nagar police, the three youngsters, Omer Fiaz Luney, Mudabir Shabbir and Zaminugal were arrested on charge of showing disrespect to the National Anthem. The three students, in their 20s, belong to Jammu and Kashmir, police said . They were booked under section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act of 1971.
