PDP worker shot dead in South Kashmir

Suspected militants on Saturday shot dead a ruling PDP worker at Dailgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A police officer said that the militants opened fire upon the PDP worker identified as Mohammad Isaaq Parray at Uggen in Dailgam today afternoon.

Parray sustained serious bullet wounds and was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Soon after the incident, a joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a man hunt to nab the assailants. So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the killing.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who is on a three day tour of Ladakh region, has condemned the killing of Mr. Ishaq Parray of Dialgam, Anantnag today by unidentified gunmen.

In a statement, the Chief Minister described the killing as dastardly and inhuman. She said she has always maintained that violence is not the way to further a political cause but certainly violence has torn apart the social fabric of the State over the past 30 years.

Mehbooba Mufti has expressed her condolences with the bereaved family.
