Ethics Committee discusses conduct of Legislators

A meeting of J&K Legislative Assembly’s Ethics Committee was held here today under the chairmanship of Legislator Abdul Rahim Rather.

Threadbare discussions related to the role of the Ethics Committee in addressing various issues were held during the meeting. The members also discussed the future course of action for the Committee.

Legislators, Abdul Majeed Larmi and Choudhary Mohammad Akram, who are members of the Committee, gave their suggestions on how to improve the ethical conduct of the members in and outside the House.

It was also discussed in the meeting that the Committee will tour the Assemblies and Councils outside the State, especially in southern states like Chennai, Thiruananthapuram, and  Mumbai, to observe the rules and procedure and Conduct of Business by the Legislators of these states.     

The meeting was attended by the Secretary, J&K Assembly, M R Singh, Additional Secretary, Deputy Secretary Abdul Qayoom Mir and other senior officers and officials of the Assembly Secretariat.
