Curfew-like restrictions in parts of Srinagar

Curfew-like restrictions continued for the second day today in downtown Srinagar, where people were forced to remain indoor due to heavy deployment of government force to prevent any “law and order problem”.

All roads leading to Lal Chowk were closed with barbed wire and hundreds of government forces preventing people from entering the city centre.

Meanwhile,  all the vehicular traffic remained off the roads and all the business establishments were closed.

Government offices, banks and educational institutions are closed due to a public holiday.

Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called a shutdown today.

While Geelani and Mirwaiz are under house arrest, Yasin Malik has been lodged at Srinagar central jail to prevent them from leading any anti-India protests.
