Flori (26), mother of three siblings is yet to believe that her husband is no more. Flori, who lost her husband Mohammad Sayeed Bhat (32), of Zainapora Shopian during forces action on Sunday says that her world has collapsed forever.
Married only six years back, Flori was living a happy life with his husband who was a carpenter by profession. Sayeed’s death has shattered the entire family as he was the sole bread earner for his family of six members. Sayeed has left behind an old aged mother, a young widow and three children, two boys Tamim (4), Muneeb 2 and a six months old baby girl Sunana.
Locals said that Mohammad Sayeed Bhat (32), son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Shirmal village of Zainapora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district was hit by a bullet near the gunfight site as government forces resorted to ‘indiscriminate’ firing to disperse the protesters in Awneera Village of Shopian district in which three militants and two army men were killed.
“Bhat was rushed to Sub District hospital Zainapora from where he was shifted to SMHS hospital inSrinagar, where he died around 9:30 pm after an operation was conducted on him,” said Farooq Ahmad, a relative of deceased who was attending him at the hospital.
Shahid Ahmad, Sayeed’s neighbour said that though he was a carpenter by profession but he always ensured that his family gets every comfort of life. He was working very hard to earn his livelihood and support his family.
He added that Sayeed was brave and kind hearted person and was very pious.
Sameer Ahmad (18), Sayeed’s nephew, said that he was with him near the encounter site when he got shot.
“He never pelted any stone but forces targeted him without any provocation. Even though he was injured the forces did not allow anyone to take him away so that he could have been rushed to a hospital for treatment,” he said.
An eyewitness to this incident, who wished anonymity said that Sayeed was beaten ruthlessly by the troops even though he had got a bullet in his abdomen.
The beating left him unconscious and since the troops did not allow anyone to move close to him he kept on bleeding for almost 40 minutes which proved led to his death, he said.
The witness said that it was a daredevil youth who argued with forces and took Sayeed away from the spot and rushed him to a hospital on a bike.
Though Sayeed was rushed to SMHS later in the day but the blood loss had left him in a critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries late in the evening and with him died the hopes for the family’s survival.
