Shabir Shah subjected to inhuman treatment in Tihar jail: DFP

The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday termed the treatment of its chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah by authorities in Tihar jail is extremely brutal and based on political vengeance.

Democratic Party’s secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari said on one hand, Shah is being implicated in false case and on other side, he has been kept among criminals in Tihar jail and there is a possible threat to his life. Shah was on Wednesday sent to Tihar jail on a 14 day judicial remand by Delhi court.

He expressed serious concern over the health condition of Shabir Ahmad Shah and said the resistance leader is suffering from various ailments and is on medication but jail authorities have not allowed him to take any medicine with him. “This is extremely inhuman behaviour and can seriously affect Shah Sahib’s health. If any untoward happens with him, authorities will be responsible,” he said.

Meanwhile, a party spokesperson paid glowing tributes to Zahid Ahmad Bhat, Ishfaq Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf Dar and 16-year-old student Younis Ahmad Sheikh who were martyred in Tral gunfight with forces.

Expressing condolence and solidarity with the bereaved families, the spokesperson said, “We’re equally grieved at this hour but have firm belief that these sacrifices won’t go waste. We’re guardians of the sacrifices of our martyrs.”
