Repressive means will prove counterproductive: Hurriyat (G)

Hurriyat Conference (G) Monday cautioned that the ‘repressive and obstinate’ means won’t help in improving the situation. It said that instead these will prove counterproductive.

Hurriyat (G) was reacting to the statement made by Union Minister Jatinder Singh, wherein he has said that Modi government has ‘‘clarity and conviction ‘’ in its approach towards the Kashmir issue.

According to the statement issued here, the spokesman said that people are mature enough to understand any follies.

He said that the successive regimes in the past tried their best to erode the freedom sentiments, but failed and even all these repressive steps will prove a failure in future too. “New Delhi and the state government have resorted to character assassination of pro-freedom camp and gagging the genuine voices,” he said, adding that it will bring only shame for these elements.

“Unless India fulfills the commitment made by its first prime minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru and stop its repressive approach against people in state, there are no chances to evolve a normal situation, instead it will aggravate more with each passing day,” the spokesman said.

Blaming PDP led regime for facilitating bloodshed in the state, the spokesman said that “those parroting about bringing peace and normalcy, are virtually responsible for the current appalling situations in the state.”

Referring to the current ‘awful’ situations, Hurriyat (G) said that since last year hundreds of innocents were mercilessly killed by present regime and its forces.

Referring to those arrested by NIA, the spokesman said, “It is a ploy to implicate them in fake and fabricated cases and main motive of New Delhi is to defame leadership through its biased media.

India government has failed in Kashmir, thus resorted to media trail and it is just to malign freedom movement and a misinformation campaign to mislead international community.”

He said that they are desperate to bring bad name to resistance movement and that is the reason they are floating concocted stories to portray it as a so called money laundering and terror funding.

Hurriyat (G) while criticizing the international community for their silence said that it is painful and quite heartening that they despite witnessing the heartless role of Indian authorities and NIA, are watching as mere mute spectators.

While lashing at authorities in New Delhi, the spokesman said that they through its agencies like NIA have waged a war against the people in state and its consequences are obvious.

Meanwhile, spokesman condemned NIA raids on residence of Advocate Devender Singh Bahal and harassment of his family members during search operations.
