Valley simmers as temperature heads North

Though the scorching heat in the Valley has left people bewildered, the weatherman here predicted a sigh of relief to the people, saying the rains would occur from Monday evening.

Pertinently, Kashmir Valley witnessed a higher temperature that Jammu on Sunday.

According to the Meteorological (MeT) department, the maximum temperature was recorded 33.7 degrees which according to officials is five degrees above normal while the maximum temperature in Jammu was only 33.6 degrees on Sunday, which is only one degree above normal.

The maximum temperature was 31.0 degrees in Qazigund today which according to the meteorological department it was three degrees above normal.

In Pahalgam, the maximum temperature was recorded 28.0, which is two degree above normal while in Kupwara, a maximum of 26 degree temperature was recorded with two degree above normal.

The other areas of the Valley also witnessed the above normal temperature today.

Meanwhile, an official in the Met department said that the scorching heat will continue in the Valley till Monday evening. “There is a possibility of light to moderate rains from Monday evening while moderate to heavy rains would occur from Tuesday evening,” he said.

He said that the rains would long last for three days from Tuesday evening.

The prediction comes at a time when the scorching heat continued in the Valley from past almost one month.

Dry weather in the Valley has also resulted in increased health related issues of the people.
