The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched by government forces on Thursday in Kanelwan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been called off.
The siege was laid after militants fired upon the patrol party in the area, officials said.
They said that Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched the search operation to nab the militants who attacked the patrol party in Kanelwan.
Officials said that no casualties were reported during the incident.
However, clashes erupted in the area after people mostly youth took to streets to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
The operation was later called off.
