Chaos prevailed in SMHS after arrival of injured civilians

Chaos prevailed in the SMHS hospital here as the injured from South Kashmir and other areas were brought here after an encounter that raged in Hakripora village of Pulwama Tuesday morning.

Soon after the killing of LeT chief commander, Abu Dujana and his aide Arif Nabi Dar alias Rehan, protests erupted in several areas of South Kashmir including Srinagar.

During clashes, one person identified as Firduos Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Subhan resident of Begumbagh, Kakapora was hit by a bullet and succumbed to his injuries. Several others were left injured, and some among them were brought to Srinagar’s SMHS for specialized treatment.  

“Firduos was injured near the encounter site during the cross firing. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

The majority of injured who were brought to the hospital were hit by bullets. According to sources at least 7 injured were brought to the hospital and are still undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Witnesses said that there seemed to be a flood of injured persons being brought to the hospital. Ghulam Muhammad, who was attending his son in the Surgical Emergency Ward, said “it seemed that, outside bullets are being showered on the people, it was scary.”

Bullet Injuries:

Protesters, who were injured during clashes, were mostly hit in abdomen, and in one case, bullet passed touching Muhammad Aslam’s left ear, leaving him injured.

The injured were identified as: Jehangir Ahmad (26) S/O Bashir Ahmad Dar, R/O Pulwama, was hit by bullet in abdomen. Naseer Ahmad (22) S/O Bashir Ahmad, R/O Pulwama, was hit by bullet in abdomen (right side). Aijaz Ahmad Dar (25) S/O Ghulam Muhammad Dar, R/O Samboora, , was hit by bullet in abdomen (right side) Bilal Ahmad (18), S/O not known, R/O Kakapora, Pulwama, was hit by bullet in right arm, hips. Aqib Nazir (18), S/O Nazir Ahmad, R/O Kakapora, Pulwama, , was hit by bullet in left thigh. Muhammad Aslam (21), S/O Ghulam Muhammad, R/O Kakapora, Pulwama, was hit by bullet in hips and left ear. Amir Jallal (22), S/O Jallal ud Din, R/O New Khandah, was hit by bullet in chest (right side).

Pellet Injuries

During the entire day at around 5 pellet injury cases were brought to SMHS for treatment.

The injured were identified as Nadeem Ahmad (24), S/O Not known, R/O Pandrethan, was hit by pellets on chest and face at Amar Singh College.  Umar Fayyaz (23), S/O Fayaz Ahmad, R/O Pulwama, was hit by pellets in chest and head.

Saheem (18) S/O Ghulam Muhammad, R/O Bagh-e-Mehtab, was hit by pellets in both legs and forehead. Waseem Hassan (22) S/O Ghulam Hassan, R/O Puchal Pulwama, was hit by pellets in left eye. Jan Muhammad (23) S/O Bashir Ahmad, R/O Pulwama, was hit by pellets in face and head.
