SICOP registers business turnover of over 286 Cr: Govt

The J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (SICOP) has achieved a business turnover of Rs 286.22 crore during the first quarter of the current fiscal.

This was stated at the 86th Board of Directors (BoD) meeting of the Corporation held at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday under the Chairmanship of Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga.

The achievement records 40% increase in revenue compared to the proceeds achieved during the same quarter in the last financial year.

The meeting was also informed that the Corporation has taken control of 43 Industrial Estates, including 30 in Kashmir division and 13 in Jammu division, earlier managed by DIC Kashmir and DIC Jammu.

The Board approved several proposals during the meeting including the Business Reform Action Plan 2017 envisaging online facilities through single window, including water connections, deposition of rentals and water usage charges, and tracking of status. These facilities would be provided in respect of all industrial estates in the State.

The business plan also provides for a land allotment system that allows online application and payment, designing and development of an online system for granting construction permits, and enactment of a comprehensive building by-law applicable to the entire State.

The Board also adopted the National Building Code. It was directed that in addition to other approved guidelines all buildings in industrial estates need to have comprehensive fire safety measures with annual renewal of fire safety.

It was decided that building approval must be given within 15 days of application and that land allotment timeline must be adhered to in letter and spirit.

The Corporation also presented its 27th Annual Report in the meeting. It will be tabled before the Legislature in its next session. The meeting also approved setting up of petrol pumps on its land for further revenue generation.

The meeting also discussed creation of IT wings for online registration and marketing of industrial units. It was directed that all wings of SICOP DIC and SIDCO will operate the Online Single Window System and make all services available online.

The Board also adopted the Industrial Policy 2016 and Procedural Guidelines framed by the Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Board and Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, congratulated the Corporation for its achievements. He said  Government is committed to the necessary transparency, accountability, and is committed to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship.

 Among other Board members, the meeting was also attended by Vice Chairman JK SICOP Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir, and Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar.
