The residents of Lawaypora village of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday staged a protest against the arrests of four persons who were opposing the installation of high-voltage power transmission lines in residential areas.
Hundreds of vehicles including school buses were stranded amid protest on Bandipora-Sopore road.
The protesters said alleged that police have arrested four persons on the directions of deputy commissioner Bandipora as the villagers are opposing the installation of high voltage transmission towers in the residential area.
The villagers of Lawaypora have been demanding installation of tower outside the residential area to avoid any untoward incident.
