Where is probe panel’s report on medical negligence?

Almost two months have passed, but the report that was submitted by the probe panel—investigating a medical negligence case that occurred on May 25 at Govt Lalla Ded Hospital, resulting in the death of an infant—has not been made public.

Asifa, bearing MRD number 4401, was a known instance of high risk pregnancy, however, was shifted to SMHS, and the alleged rash driving of the ambulance driver led to the death of the infant.

Rouf Ahmad, husband of the patient has been running from pillar to post in order to have a glimpse of the report, however, he is repeatedly being denied of the same.

“For months now, I have been doing rounds of Principal GMC’s office, and they are not paying any heed,” Rouf said.

On June 25, Rouf was asked to file an RTI application and only after that he would be given the copy of the report, which was again totally against the set norms and regulations, as he was entitled to have a copy of the report.

Now that a month has passed since he filed the RTI application, in reply the concerned authorities have directed the officials in GMC to provide him with a copy of the report, however, he is still being denied the report copy.

“The authorities at GMC are still not providing me with a copy of the report even after they have been directed to do so,” Rouf said.

Rouf is mulling to file a petition at State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) as according to him the internal inquiry of the department has completely failed, “I will not rest until the justice is not served in this case,” he said.
