Friday prayers again barred at Srinagar Jamia Masjid

Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar were again not allowed today, sources said.

This is fifth consecutive Friday when weekly prayers were not allowed in the Jamia.

Heavy contingent of police and forces personnel were deployed in the area to prevent people from reaching the mosque.

Local witnesses said that roads leading to the Jamia have been sealed and concertina wires have been erected at the entry and exit points.

Pertinently, the Joint Resistance Leaders had called for shutdown and  protest march upto the UN office against the recent civilian killings and continued ‘persecution’ of the political leaders.
