Police has lodged  an FIR against the troopers of 55 RR after their vehicle crushed a minor girl namely Aruba Jan to death in Aglar area of Zainapora in South Kashmor’s Shopian district on Thursday.

The incident triggered massive demonstrations and people resorted to heavy stone pelting demanding action against the troops of 55 RR. During the protests, 14 policemen got injured.

To control the protesting masses, Shopian Police headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Afroz Ahmad  Mir reached the spot and  pacified the angry protesters and assured that proper action would be taken in the matter.

Later Police lodged the FIR No.41/2017 Under section 279 – 304A in police station Zainapora against the troopers of 55 RR.

Additional Superintendent of police Afroz Ahmad is currently monitoring the situation.
