After M. Venkaiah Naidu resigned from his posts, Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani will hold the additional charges of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the BJP led government announced today.
The government also announced that Union Minister for Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar will serve as the new Urban Development Minister.
Both the portfolios were earlier held by Vice-Presidential candidate M. Venkaiah Naidu, who resigned from his posts earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Presidential election will be held on August 5.
