Sub district Zainapora is functioning without a Sub District Magistrate (SDM) from the last few months.

It is one of the oldest tehsils of the area and was approved as a sub district during the National Conference (NC)-Congress regime in 2014-15.

Upto May 2017, Zainapora functioned normally. However, as per the locals the Sub District Magistrate was transferred almost three months ago and no officer has replaced him till now.

Due to absence of SDM, common people are facing lot of problems.  People from Zainapora and adjacent areas expressed that they were not aware of the reason why no SDM had been appointed so far.

Locals added that they had expressed their concerns to higher authorities and MLA Adv Aijaz Ahmad Mir but to no avail.

Despite repeated attempts, MLA Watchi was not available for comment.

An employee of Tehsil office Chitragam Shopian said that hundreds of files are lying in SDM office Zainapora from the last three months, but who is going to sign them as we are without SDM. He added that absence of SDM had been affecting their work.

Another employee from tehsil office Zainapora said absence of SDM has created lot of problems for employees as well as to common people, and the need of the hour was to immediately bring an SDM to resolve the issues.
