Two among three militants killed in Rudbugh laid to rest

Two among the three militants killed in Rudbugh Budgam on the intervening  night of Tuesday and Wednesday were today laid to rest in their respective ancestral graveyards amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Three Hizb militants were killed in a brief overnight gunfight at Redbugh area of Magam in Budgam district.

The slain militants have been identified as Aaqib Gul of Gooripora, Javaid Ahmad Shiekh of Beerwah and Sajad Ahmad Gilkar of Malaratta in old city. The killings triggered spontaneous shutdown in parts of Srinagar city.

The bodies of Aqib and Javaid have been handed over to their families and their last rites have been performed while as  the body of Sajad has been kept in police control room Srinagar.

In Goripora, the native place of Aqib, hundreds thronged his house to have last glimpse of the slain militant.

Aqib was later taken to his ancestral graveyard where he was laid to rest amidst pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

The mourners later carried to body of Aqib to Hyderpora amid massive pro freedom slogans. They were proceeding towards the residence of octogenarian Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani.

Meanwhile, four rounds of funeral prayers were held for slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Tafazul Islam alias Javid Sheikh at his ancestral Churpora (Sadpora) village of Narbal in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said that Islam was laid to rest amid pro-freedom and pro-Moosa slogans at his ancestral graveyard.

Tens of thousands of people participated in his funeral prayers in which banners extolling slain Hizb commander Burhan Wani were waved by the mourners.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Magam, Aripanthan, Narbal and Beerwah area of the district to mourn the militant killings.
