Six people have reportedly been arrested from Batengoo after yesterday’s attack on the National Highway.

According to the sources, six persons including two brothers were arrested by forces soon after the suspected militant attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Meanwhile, the locals of Batengoo village where the attack took place, have accused forces of resorting to highhandedness at the spot of attack.

“Soon after the attack, the army and police allegedly barged

into a residential house and beat the inmates including womenfolk and looted the cash of Rs 30,000 from his house,” a local said.

The house is very close to the spot where the attack took place, leaving seven Yatris dead and more than 18 injured.

According to the police, Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), a militant organisation, is behind the attack and Pakistani militant Ismail is the mastermind behind the attack. However, LeT has condemned the attack and denied their involvement in the attack.
