UPA candidate for President 2017 seeks votes in Srinagar

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) nominee for President of India in 2017, Meira Kumar on Sunday met Congress, National Confrence and other Independent candidates in Srinagar to garner support in her favour.

Later she along with core group held a press conference in SKICC Srinagar.

The union of 17 Indian political parties to back me for presidency has come into existence to safeguard the ideologies and principles that unite India as one, Meira Kumar, said.

“If communal forces are not stopped then coming days in India will be dark,” she said.

She said she appealed the members of parliament and legislative assembly to rise above politics and back her for presidency to save ideology of India.

Speaking on the occasion, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said, “We hope that communalism is defeated so that every citizen of India can live in dignity.”
