Traders booked, Rs 6500 fine imposed in Darhal

A joint team of officials of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) and Food & Drugs Control Authority today conducted surprise market checking at Darhal.

During the checking, samples of drugs and food items were collected for lab testing. Shopkeepers, traders and fruit vendors were directed not to over charge customers above the retail price.

After finding the traders flouting relevant rules, the team booked three traders and a fine of Rs. 6500 was imposed on them for not complying with Standard Declarations. The inspection team also suspended the license of a chemist shop for selling counterfeit, substandard and spurious drugs.

The inspection was conducted after the strict instructions passed by DDC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary to the concerned departments for intensifying market checking in the district so that wholesome food and quality drugs could be provided to the public.
