Members of Kashmir University Officers Association (KUOA), on Friday, vowed to fight for their rights. The KUOA president appealed to the members to ensure time bound and speedy disposal of files and cases for the betterment of the institution as a whole and students community in particular.
The day-long general body meeting was held in the committee room of the Ghandi Bhawan.
In his welcome address, general secretary said that KUOA wanted inputs from all the members to strengthen the body and to safeguard the interests of all its members.
Chief Librarian of Alama Iqbal Library and Head of the Department of Information and Library Sciences, Dr A M Baba, was the Guest of Honour. He shared his experiences of being associated with KUOA for the last 30 years.
Highlighting the need for a vibrant KUOA, Dr Baba hoped that the new executive body would shape up things better and would have a strong voice for the officers’ community.
In his maiden presidential address, the newly elected KUOA president, Syed Mubarak Ahmad, presented a detailed account of the issues confronted by the body and listed the achievements of the previous body. Among other things, he emphasized the officers to exercise their powers as per the rules and regulations and ensure time bound and speedy disposal of files and cases for the benefit of the institution and the student community.
Following Syed Mubarak Ahmad’s speech, the meeting was thrown open for discussion amongst the general body members. Many members gave valuable suggestions for making KUOA a vibrant force.
The members who spoke on the occasion included Joint Registrar, Altaf Ahmad , Deputy Registrar and executive member, Dr Feroz Ahmad Gurkoo, Deputy Registrar, Inamul Rouf Malik, Dy Registrar, Dr. Pz Mehrajud din, Assistant registrar legal cell and executive member, Ab. Rashid Sofi, Medical officer, Dr Suraya, Assistant Librarian, Dr Sheik Imran,
Assistant Registrar, Ghulam Hassan and Assistant Director Physical Education, Nadeem Ahmad
Vice president KUOA, Asmat Kawoosa was also present at the occasion.
