Clashes erupted on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr between protesters and government forces in several parts of Kashmir valley, including the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
In Sopore, over a dozen protesters were injured during clashes with forces after Eid prayers. In Palhallan area, youth staged protests after Eid prayers and clashed with forces near the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road. However, no reports of injured have been received from the area.
Clashes were also reported from Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and other areas of south Kashmir on Monday.
According to the sources, several persons were injured in clashes in Janglat Mandi and Achajipora areas of Anantnag town.
Pro-freedom demonstrations were reported from Hanfia and Ahli Hadees Eidgahs in the town. People dislayed banners of militants and slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in Eidgahs in Anantnag town.
In Srinagar, protesters clashed with government forces in Eidgah and Gaw Kadal areas. The protesters hurled rocks on the forces who responded by firing tear smoke shells.
