Uri: SBI customers protest over its closure ahead of Eid

State Bank of India (SBI) customers in Uri town on Saturday protested against its closure on a gazetted holiday ahead of the Eid.

The protesters were demanding the immediate reopening of the bank branch in the town.

“As the Eid is ahead, it is very unfortunate that the bank is closed. We have to withdraw the money from the bank and now it is not possible,” the protesters told Kashmir Vision.

“We have no money left in our wallets. We are on the verge of starvation,” they said adding the bank was closed yesterday also but for today it should have been opened for the relief of customers.

The protesters have blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffrabad highway since last three hours and traffic on the highway has been totally disrupted.

However, no bank official was yet available for comments as the bank stands closed.

Interestingly, the SBI bank is closed today in entire India on the pretext on gazette holiday.
