Take Kashmir issue to ICJ, Shabir Shah tells Pakistan

Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Monday, appealed to Pakistan to take the Kashmir issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Shah said, “Pakistan is a sovereign country and is a stakeholder in the Kashmir dispute. It has every right to refer it to the international court. Just as India took the case of Kulbushan Jadav to ICJ, Pakistan should follow suit and garner international opinion over the issue. By doing so, Pakistan can gain support of different nations putting an end to this problem,” he said.

The DFP chairman said the recent move of UN’s Economic and Social Affairs Department to show Jammu Kashmir as a separate nation has vindicated our stand and encouraged us that we can achieve the Observer status at the world body. “We appeal to the representatives of the UN to take a serious note of our demand and grant us the Observer status.”

Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah congratulated Pakistan cricket team, Pakistan Cricket Board, and Pakistani people for winning the Champions Trophy. “It was the result of team spirit and hard work. The people of Jammu Kashmir are delighted and felicitate the Pakistan team on the marvellous win.”

A delegation of Democratic Freedom Party, on the directions of its Shabir Ahmad Shah visited Khadwani, Kulgam and expressed condolence to the family of Junaid Mattoo, who was killed in a gunfight with forces at Arwani last week.

The delegation was led by party’s secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari, advocate Fayaz Sodagar, Er Farooq Ahmad. They also visited the residence of Shaheed Adil Ahmad at Frestbal and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family.
