Police on Monday foiled the Secretariat Gherao program of Clerical Staff Association (CSA) and detained scores of its members when they tried to lead a protest rally towards the Civil Secretariat from Srinagar’s Press Enclave.
The protesters had planned to gherao secretariat today.
Earlier, the protesting association members assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave.
Raising anti-government slogans, the protesters were demanding removal of pay anomaly.
As soon as the protesters tried to march towards the civil secretariat, police swung into and action detained scores of its members.
The protesters said that the government has failed to remove pay anomaly, which has resulted in the immense hardships to them.
“Even we are not being allowed to march peacefully for our demands. Government wants us to forget the promises they made with the employees earlier. They should fulfill the promises done with us,” the protesters said.
They said that the government must not ignore their plights. “We have been left to face hardships. The government must take steps to put our sufferings to an end,” they said.
Later, the protesters tried to march towards the civil secretariat.
However, police swung into action and detained many of the protestors.
