GST row: Kashmir Economic Alliance chairperson arrested

 

Ahead of its proposed protest in civil secretariat in Srinagar against GST, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) chairperson Muhammad Yasin Khan was arrested by the police at Lal Chowk, Srinagar.

According to KEA spokesperson, Khan along with dozens of business community members were arrested by police near ‘Ganta Ghar‘ and taken to Kothi Bagh police station.

Earlier, Khan addressed a press conference in Lal Chowk Srinagar pledging that the business community of Kashmir will not allow the government to implement the GST. “Government is in a process of surrendering the fiscal autonomy of the state,” Khan said.

Meanwhile, the business community of Kashmir valley is observing a complete shutdown against the government decision to implement GST.
