Minister visits Rafiabad, announces upgradation of Rohama-Shutlu-Khahmoh road

 

Minister for Public works Naeem Akhtar today visited various areas of Rafiabad constituency. He said various developmental projects including decongestion, macadamization, road widening and other works will soon transform the Rafiabad Constituency.

The Minister while speaking to various delegations of people during his extensive tour to Rafiabad said that various works are underway in the constituency that will strengthen the road network in the area. He reviewed the pace of work on various projects and directed the officials to complete them at the earliest. He also asked the officials to simultaneously widen the approach roads and start Macadamization of all roads in Rafiabad constituency. The Minister assured the people that the bottlenecks in the widening of this road will be removed soon. He said that the roads upon upgradaton and macadamization will benefit a large section of people in the Constituency.

The Minister announced upgradation and macadamization of Rohama-Shutlu-Khahmoh road. He said that wherever people will provide land, the department will promptly widen the road.  The Minister directed the constitution of a expert committee to suggest measures to address the soil erosion problem in Rohama.

The Minister addressed a large gathering at Shalkote and asked people to make benefit from various government schemes. He asked the orchardists to establish HIgh Density apple orchards for which government is providing a huge subsidy component too. The Minister said that the fortunes of Rafiabad will change if farmers here move to High Density fruit plantation.

The Minister also released Rs three lakh from his CD Fund for beautification undertaking works of public amenities in Shalkote.

The Minister visited Jahama, Dangiwacha, Zethen, Pakhwara, Rohama, Braman, Panzulla, Shutlu, Khahmoh, Soyin and other areas.

During the tour the Minister said that the government is working on a plan to make state a place of attraction for locals and tourists alike and Rafiabad is one of the priority areas in this plan. He said that Braman is a beautiful place in Rafiabad and government is working on a plan to develop it into a tourist spot. He said that Rafiabad has other such beautiful spots too and in coming years it will emerge as a major tourist attraction.

At Soyin, the Minister expressed his displeasure at the status of macadamization work undertaken in the area. He directed the Chief Engineer R&B to attach the concerned JE and inquire into the quality of macadamization work undertaken in the main road of the area.

Enroute number of delegations from Rafiabad Constituency met the Minister and apprised him of their grievances related to drainage, power supply, water supply and other basic amenities. The Minister gave on the spot directions to redress the issues to concern authorities.

The Minister was accompanied by Ex-MLA Dillawar Mir, Chief Engineer R&B, Chief Engineer PMGSY, MD JKPCC, ADC Sopore, SP Sopore, SDPO Rafiabad, and other officials.
