GST row: Now separatists jump into the fray

Taking on the state government over the proposed implementation of GST in the state, the joint resistance leadership said that the PDP government was implementing GST in Jammu and Kashmir at the cost of business community.

The trio of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik expressed deep concern over the way the act is being imposed in the state. They said that it is a well thought out plan to cripple the trade and economy in the Valley.

Lashing out at the PDP government, the leadership said that they are hell-bent to harm business community and added that few state ministers are in league with authorities in Nagpur and are being lured to implement GST in state.

The leaders also condemned the ransacking of properties during night raids in Shopian. Asking people to protest such vandalisation, the leadership called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers on June 16 and demanded immediate release of all political prisoners.

“State authorities have waged a war on innocent civilians. Government of India is not serious to resolve Kashmir issue as they instead of following political means, are pursuing their repressive policy and fanatical ideology,” the leaders added.

Reacting sharply over raids conducted by NIA, the joint leadership said that Indian government is frustrated to the extent that they frame and raid residences of pro-freedom leaders and activists so that they surrender and stop voicing the sentiments of their nation, thereby covering and shielding their atrocities and barbarism against common and unarmed people.

The leaders warned the government of dire consequences and said if these repressive tactics are not stopped forthwith, they will resent and call a public protest against these repressive measures.
