The sanitation and casual labour employees of Muncipal Council Sopore, on Monday, ended their strike after their demands were met.
They resumed their daily work in the town after two-days of strike against the transfer of one of their employees. The transfer of the municipal worker had triggered protest dharna outside the Municipal Council office on Friday.
The safaikaramcharis said they were misled by some seniors, who asked them to hit the streets and to suspend their daily work.
They said that the employee, who was transferred was involved in many wrong doings. One such glaring example was that under the leadership of Executive Officer G. M Lone, the safaikaramacharis cleaned the latrines of Sub District Hospital of Sopore and opened it for public. These hospital latrines were lying defunct since many years due to the reckless attitude of the concerned employee.
The Executive Officer said that the civic body and its works would work together for the betterment of town and would develop it in all possible manner.
He said due to the confusion created amongst the safaikaramcharis and casual labour workers daily routine work was hit in the town on Friday.
Lone said, “All safaikaramcharis, including casual labour workers, have returned to work and have cleaned the town. I am satisfied with the work of safaikaramcharis. They are doing their best to clean the town.”
