Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory with or without Article 370, says Er Rasheed

AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has asked Omer Abdullah not to dilute and confuse an internationally recognised dispute by talking about Autonomy which had never any relevance from the day of accession.

According to a statement issued here, Er Rasheed said that the accession of J&K with India is not subject to Article 370 but to the outcome of the result of the plebiscite.

“NC, PDP and others have been confusing the real issue by talking that J&K is a political problem, as the fact of the matter, nobody is denying that J&K is a political problem, but the dispute is what has to be the solution of the problem”, Rasheed said.

He said that unless UN resolutions are not implemented, neither Maharaja’s accession with New Delhi nor any resolution or constitutional amendment passed by the state Assembly carries any weight.

“Omer Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and other mainstream leaders need to accept the fact that J&K Assembly or Indian Parliament can never ever supersede United Nations resolutions as there is a huge difference between an International Forum comprising all sovereign   independent countries and parliament of a country or a local Assembly of a disputed area,” he added.

“Besides the way New Delhi and elected public representatives of the state have disgraced state Assembly from time to time and eroded its credibility, elected representatives have no moral authority to speak for India or seek a solution within the ambits of Indian constitution”, he said in the statement.
