Family of slain sikh youth seek justice

More than two years have passed since a Jammu sikh youth, Jasjit Singh was killed in police firing. His family says that they are still waiting for the day when justice will prevail in the case.

Singh was killed on 4th of June 2015 when score of youths were protesting against the desecration of religious poster allegedly by a senior police officer.

Parents of deceased boy have been demanding justice and arrest of those involved in his killing.

“The government was never serious about punishing murderers of our son. They were trying to compensate for our irreplaceable loss,” Nirvair Singh, father of the deceased said.

Pertinently, after the incident, a case was registered under number FIR number 112/2015 under section 302 Ranbir Penal code (RPC) at Satwari police station Jammu.

“My son was innocent not a terrorist. They intentionally killed my son, who was not fighting against anyone but for the just cause of the community,” Singh added.

“The state Government tried to compensate the murder of my son by offering job to my daughter, but we declined the offer and sought justice for y son,” he said. 

  Station house officer (SHO) of Satwari Police Station (where this case had registered) Manjeet Singh told Kashmir Vision that he is unaware about this case.

“I don’t know anything about this case, first I have to check this case, and then I can comment over the issue,” he said.
