Minister visits Cement Factory Khrew, JKEDI, Govt Joinery Mills Pampore

 

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, today visited JK Cement Factory Khrew, JK Entrepreneurship Development Industrial (JKEDI) and Government Joinery Mills Pampore to take stock of their functioning.

He was accompanied by Vice Chairman J&K Cements Limited Nazir Itoo, Commissioner Secretary Industries Shailendra Kumar, Managing Director JK Cements Atul Sharma and other concerned officials.

The Minister during his visit to the Khrew factory took stock of the facilities available at the unit and went round various sections of the factory including Gauging laboratory, Analytical lab and kilns.

It was given out that cement production capacity of Khrew plant this year would cross over 900 MTs. While appreciating the efforts of officials and workers of the company, he impressed upon officials to achieve a turnover of Rs 150 crore in the current year. He said achieving the said target will bring the much needed vibrancy and independence in the functioning of the factory.

To ensure adequate pollution control measures in Khrew, the Minister said it is imperative to strictly conform to the pollution control measures proclaimed by the Government from time to time and to put in place pollution controlling devices so that degradation of the environment is minimized to a large extent.

The Minister also interacted with workers who put forth various demands. He gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their all genuine demands would be looked into on priority.

Ganga also visited village Wuyen and took stock of the land of the Corporation. He directed the management for utilizing of the said assets and formulating a comprehensive proposal for establishment of income generating units.

During his visit to JKEDI, the Minster inspected the renovation works of the complex that was damaged last year. He was briefed that the renovation works have almost been completed and the Institution would become fully functional from next month. He was also informed that JKEDI is in process of starting Diploma Courses in Entrepreneurial Development.      The Minister asked officials to ensure full-proof security arrangements of the complex so as to avoid any untoward incident in the future.

Later, Ganga went round various units of Government Joinery Mills Pampore and interacted with the employees. He also visited showroom-cum-sale outlet of Government Joinery Mills, Silk Factory and Woolen Mills.

He was accompanied by Vice Chairman, J&K Industries Ltd Gulzar Ahmad, Managing Director JKI and other officials.
