Scores of people today attended the funeral procession of Hizb militant Aijaz Ahmed Mir of Brathkalan, Sopore at Shaheed graveyard of his native village on Thursday afternoon. 

Aijaz who was killed along with his associate Basharat Ahmed Shiekh in a gunfight with forces at Nathipora area in Sopore outskirts.

Meanwhile, thousands of people assembled at Shaheed graveyard Brathkalan after the news spread about the killing of the native militant.

Eyewitnesses said that the men and women despite fasting attended the funeral procession of the Hizb militant Aijaz Ahmed Mir. According to the eyewitness, people were chanting pro-Islam, pro-Azadi and anti-India sloganeering.

Meanwhile, reports said that militants openly offer gun salutes at the funeral procession of Aijaz Ahmad.

However, reports reaching to this newspaper said that the funeral of slain Basharat Ahmed Shiekh held at Bomai playground, with thousands of people attended the last rites of slain militant. 

Meanwhile, authorities have stopped mobile communication except for state-run BSNL in North Kashmir as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order following the killing of two militants.
