Schools, Colleges to remain shut in Srinagar, Kulgam, Anantnag 

District administration Srinagar Wednesday said that the teaching activity in all the Degree Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) will remain suspended on Jun 01 while as the district administration Kulgam and Anantnag have decided to close down all the educational institutes on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Farooq Ahmd Lone said that the class work will remain suspended in all the Degree colleges and Higher Secondary Schools of district Srinagar on June 1.  

However, the administrative officials in Kulgam and Anantnag said that the all the educational institutions will remain closed for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday.

Officials said the decision was taken to “prevent law and order problems.”

The class work in the colleges and schools was suspended by the authorities in view of the protests that erupted following the killing of Hizb commander, Sabzar Ahmd Bhat on Saturday.

The students in the Valley have been continuously protesting against the alleged thrashing of student’s in Government Degree College Pulwama on Apr 15.

Fearing protests, the authorities from past few weeks have intermittently shut the colleges and Higher Secondary institutions as a precautionary measure.
