DC chairs price fixation meet, stresses for sustained market checking

Deputy Commissioner, Mohammed Harun Malik chaired a meeting with officers of concerned departments to fix and ensure strict enforcement of rates of mutton, chicken and other commodities.

Assistant Commissioner Food safety, Assistant Director FCS &CA, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, CEO Municipal Council Poonch were present in the meeting.

After threadbare discussions and verification of rates and assessment of transportation charges, transit weight loss and other issues the committee   approved the rate of meat (Sheep/Goat) including Ojary at Rs. 320 per kg and for broiler chicken including dressing charges Rs 135/P.K, Eggs 115/per tray, milk 45/k.g However, it was informed that these rates shall remain applicable for some specific period.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure availability of essentials and keep a strict vigil on the quality and rates of various eatables.

He also asked the Butchers Association to refrain from indulging in anti-consumer practices besides maintaining proper hygiene.
