Despite undergoing a surgery, 17 years old teenage student Sameer Ahmad Bhat continues to battle for the life at SMHS hospital here.

Hailing from Tulchuhur village of South Kashmir’s Mattan town, the class 12 student Sameer’s skull was fractured badly on the backside and pieces of the skull bone had penetrated into his brain after getting hit by a teargas shell.

Sameer currently is admitted in ICU ward of the hospital where his condition is said to be very ‘critical’.

“He is in trauma. Doctors have said that his condition is very critical and he is showing no body movement so far,” Shabir Ahmad, the cousin of the injured told Kashmir Vision at the hospital.

“Though he was operated upon by the doctors here, but still there is no improvement in his health condition,” Ahmad said.

“We can only pray for his speedy recovery but rest it is up to almighty,” he said.

When inquired about his parents, Shabir said: “We sent them back to home today as they were unable to see his condition”  

Narrating the scene of that day, he said as the news about the killing of militant commander, Sabzar Ahmad reached to students of the Higher Secondary School Mattan, where Sameer studies, they assembled in the school premises and shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

“To prevent the entry of CRPF and Police into the school premises, some students pelted stones at them and in return they fired pellets and teargas shells. As, Sameer was running for cover, he was hit in his head from the backside,” Shabir said.

Sameer is only son of his family and is survived by father, mother and two sisters. His father works as carpenter, mother is a housewife, and his two sisters are studying.

As he was brought to SMHS hospital on Saturday, he was first taken to the operation theatre for the skull injury and in the evening he was shifted to ICU ward.

A female doctor who operated upon on Sameer said: “After performing skull surgery, his condition continues to remain ‘descend and critical’. But yet there is no improvement in his health condition.”
