Tension escalated between India and Pakistan on Wednesday as the Pakistan’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, said that Pakistan will give a “befitting response” to any misadventure “from the enemy”.

Replying to a question about the Indian Air chief’s recent statement directing his soldiers to “be ready for action at a short notice,” the Air Chief said Pakistan was a peace-loving country, but if the adversary went for any misadventure, “our response to any aggression by the enemy will be such that their future generations will also remember it.”

He made the remarks after taking part in Air Force exercises and flying a Mirage fighter jet while on a visit to the Qadri Air Base in Skardu. The Air chief also reviewed the exercises and operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

The air chief said the exercises were the part of PAF’s routine training, adding: “PAF is a battle-hardened force and we continue to ensure our operational preparedness 24/7.”

Aman said PAF had proven to be the best in the world by carrying out Operation Zarb-e-Azb in a highly professional manner for the last two and an half years, without even a single incident of collateral damage.

The air chief also said that the PAF is in complete synergy with its sister armed forces to carry out all operations to fight against terrorism. On Tuesday, Indian Army claimed to have destroyed a Pakistan Army post in the Naushera sector in Jammu and Kashmir by carrying out fire assaults along the Line of Control (LoC) as part of its “anti-terror operations”, further escalating the tensions between the two countries.

A senior army official said that the assault was carried out recently as Pakistani posts were supporting infiltration into Indian side. Additional Director General Public Information, Maj Gen Ashok Narula, said a video of the strike has been released. But, the video, didn’t mention of the time and date of the strike. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government was at the back of the action taken by Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in striking Pakistan Army posts and it will bring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Government supports the actions of Indian Army across LoC. Such actions are needed to ensure peace in J&K,” Jaitley said in a tweet. “Indian Army is taking preemptive and measured actions to counter terrorism in valley & disengage Pak posts across LoC supporting infiltration,” he said in another tweet.
