Reacting to the arrest spree launched since last one year, Hurriyat (G) said that more than five hundred political leaders, activists and students are detained in different jails and police lockups.

Lashing out at PDP-led coalition, it said that it is very sad that even students are being arrested and lodged in detention centers. He urged International Red Cross and Amnesty international to take note of pathetic condition of political detainees.

Hurriyat (G) said that its activist Mohammad Amin Parey, after undergoing surgery in hospital was arrested by police and since then, he is in unlawful detention and during this period police authority instead of releasing him, slapped three PSA in a row. “He was bailed out by court, however, police slapped third PSA on Parey and shifted him to unknown destination.”

It also said that 70-year old Mohd Rustum Bhat and Tariq Ahmad Ganai (Shopian) are suffering from multiple ailments and no proper treatment is being provided to them. In view of his deteriorating health condition doctors advised for immediate surgery to Mohd Rustum Bhat, but neither authorities have released him nor has proper treatment been provided to them.

Tariq Ahmad is languishing in jail since last nine months and despite his worsening condition, no medical facility is provided to him too. Similarly, district president Shopian, Mohammad Yusuf Falahi, is ailing and no proper medical treatment is provided to him.
