BJP’s chronicle on JK illustrates negative approach: Geelani

Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani today said that Kashmir is a serious issue and its solution is not possible through rhetoric or provocative statements.

Reacting to the statements of India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nirmal Singh, Geelani said that their narratives about Jammu & Kashmir illustrates their negative and egoistic approaches.

“None among them talks sense and it is very sad,” said Geelani while referring to BJP leadership. “They are creating war euphoria and no sensible politician will like to talk like that,” he added.

Castigating the leadership Geelani said that people running the State’s affairs should be more sensible while talking on important issues and should avoid egoism.

Commenting over the statement, wherein Rajnath Singh said that the government will find a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue Geelani said that despite utilizing all its resources and military might during the last seventy years, “the issue is there and there seems not an iota of change on ground”.

Syed Ali Geelani said that if the government is confident and sure about its claim then it is best to ascertain people’s verdict and hold referendum in J&K to prove that claim. “We will accept whatever the verdict people give,” reiterated Geelani.

Geelani strongly criticized Nirmal Singh for his misleading statement, wherein he had said that stone pelting incidents are being promoted through payments. Geelani said that these allegations are baseless and ridiculous and are far from realities.

“Nobody will sacrifice his precious life or eyesight for such a meager amount. It is a negative, false and misleading propaganda. Neither Hurriyat Conference nor Pakistan has any role in stone pelting,” he said. He added that stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir has long been used as a ‘tool of resistance’ against oppressors.
