Weather to remain dry in valley, say MeT

After the fresh spell of intermittent rainfall on Saturday in the valley, the Metrological Department Kashmir said that the overall weather will remain dry and there is no prediction of heavy rains.

“Yes there is no prediction of heavy rains for the valley,” said Sonam Lotus, Director Metrological Department J&K.

He said that these were the light rains which keep happening frequently.

“There is possibility of light rains and thundershower tonight as well as for tomorrow. But mostly the weather will remain dry in the coming days,” Lotus said.

Srinagar today recorded the maximum temperature of 27.8 degree Celsius.

In south Kashmir, Kokernag witnessed 25.8 degree, Qazigund as 27.7 degree while tourist resort Pahalgam recorded 24.1degree.

In north Kashmir, ski-resort Gulmarg recorded maximum temperature of 14.4, while border town Kupwara recorded 28.2 degree Celsius.

In Ladakh region’s Kargil town, the minimum temperature was 10.4 degrees Celsius. In Leh region, the minimum temperature settled at 6.8 degrees.

Meanwhile, it was cloudy in Srinagar on Saturday with the minimum temperature recorded at 13. 3 degree Celsius.

 

In Jammu region, the maximum temperature today has hovered around 38.9 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Jammu city was 24.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

“In Jammu, the weather will mostly remain dry,” said a MET official.
