On the fourth day of Hafta-e-Shahadat(martyr’s week), a blood donation camp was organised in the memory of the social, religious and political leaders of Kashmiri people in the premises of Jamia Masjid.
Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq, martyrs of Hawal massacre and Awami Action Committee (AAC) distributed free medicines to the patients. People from various districts of Kashmir, a large number of youth and women donated their blood.
AAC and APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who couldn’t participate in the camp as authorities had placed him under house detention, lauded the humanitarian spirit of people, who turned up in large numbers to donate their blood.
Members of all the constituents of APHC including, AAC leaders, workers and activists, participated in the camp and donated their blood.
A free medical camp was also organised on the occasion in which prominent doctors and paramedics participated. Doctors from Unani branch of medicine, which included a team of doctors and paramedics from Haya Hospital Batamaloo headed by Dr. Feroz Naqashbandi attended the camp. Hundreds of patients suffering from different ailments were given treatment.
Meanwhile, AAC spokesman expressed disappointment that for the first time in the past 27 years, doctors and paramedical staff from SKIMS Soura were not allowed by the administration to send a medical team, to participate in this initiative.
Hundreds of patients waited for doctors from the institute but were let down as doctors were not allowed to attend the camp.
AAC spokesman announced that a workers rally will be organized at the headquarters in Rajouri Kadal where AAC delegates from across the Valley will participate.
