Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone on Friday evening visited the Lal Ded hospital to assess the damage caused to the operation theatre in a fire incident.

Medical Superintendent informed the DC that fire broke-out inside the operation theatre in Kashmir’s lone maternity care hospital Lal Ded late Friday evening. Soon a number of fire tenders reached the spot and extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is being ascertained.

He further informed that all Female patients have been evacuated to the other wards successfully. Patients and attendants hailed the fire service staff and local police for prompt action, saying it curtailed the panic that had set in soon after the fire broke out.

          The Deputy Commissioner inspected the operation theatre which was damaged due to the fire. He directed the field functionaries of revenue department to report the quantum of damages caused to the theatre so that necessary steps should be initiated.
