Syed Ali Geelani, on Thursday, strongly condemned the use of force against students and said that situation in educational institutions was turning explosive.

Blaming police for manhandling students in Magam, Sopore, Pulwama, Handwara, Duru and Islamabad, Geelani said that he is keeping a close vigil over the developments.

Terming the police action as barbaric, Geelani said that this cannot be tolerated and we won’t leave innocent students at the mercy of authorities. “The unprovoked interference of police is infuriating students.”

Geelani stressed for immediate release of detained students and demanded stringent action against erring police personnel.
