Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after congregational Friday prayers.
According to the sources, the youth assembled near Markazi Jamia Masjid area of Sopore town and started pelting stones on the forces deployed in the main bazaar area who retaliated by lobbing teargas shells which led to clashes.
This triggered shutdown in the whole area and all the business establishments were forced to down their shutters.
They were protesting against the student detentions.
Meanwhile protests were also reported from Hajin area of Bandipora district.
